For coaches

Build the training

Your parents get a checklist. You decide what is on it and what you require.

Open Team in the top bar. Everything on this page is on that one screen.

The five steps

Two steps work today. The other three are on the list, greyed out, so a parent who hears about them knows they are not late.

StepWhat it isOpen today?
Your intro videoA link you pasteYes
NSDA and NFHS coursesThree free courses on their own sitesYes
DebateFlow short videosOur videosNo. We have not made them yet.
Scenario quizQuestions with one right answerNo
Practice roundA round to judge for practiceNo

A step that is not open carries no button, and does not count against a parent's progress. Their bar counts only the steps they can finish, so "2 of 2 steps done" is a finished checklist.

Add your intro video

Record 2 to 5 minutes on Loom, YouTube or Drive, then paste the link into Your intro video. The link has to start with http:// or https://. There is no upload yet.

Say the three things a parent cannot get anywhere else: how your team judges, what tournament day looks like, and who to call.

Parents tick I watched it when they are done. Your dashboard reads Parent confirmed — not "watched". A pasted link tells us nothing, so a tick is the parent's word.

If you leave the video out, your dashboard says No video added in that column, and no parent can finish the step.

Pick what you require

Each step has a switch. On means required.

A new team starts with Your intro video and NSDA and NFHS courses required, and everything else off. That is the right setup today, so you may not need to change anything here.

Ready to judge on your dashboard means a parent finished every step you marked required. Nothing else.

  • Require your intro video and the courses. Those are the two that work.
  • Leave DebateFlow short videos off. There are no videos behind it.
  • You need at least one required step. With none, every parent counts as ready the moment they join, so DebateFlow will not let you publish.

Fill in the rest

All of this is on the same page.

  • Training title — needed, up to 120 characters. Your parents see it at the top of their checklist. It starts as "your team judge training". Change it to name the season if you want, like "Fall 2026 parent judge training".
  • Finish by — optional date. Parents see it beside their progress.
  • Note to parents — optional, up to 2,000 characters. Shown at the top of their checklist with your name and the date you wrote it. This is the place for your deadline and the reason for it.
  • Team links — up to 10. Each one needs a name and an address starting with http:// or https://. Group chat, schedule, carpool sheet.
  • Team quiz questions — up to 3. Four answers each, with the right one marked. The quiz is not built yet, so these are saved for it and nobody is asked them.

Save it

Both buttons save everything on the page.

  • Save draft — saves and leaves the badge at Draft.
  • Save and invite parents — saves, checks that you required at least one step, and marks the training Published.

Draft and Published are a note to yourself. A parent who already has your link sees the checklist either way. Finish the training before you send the invites.

See what your parents see

Open your own join link, the one on your team page. You get the same checklist they do.

Anything you tick there is yours, not a parent's, and it does not show on your dashboard.
